Downtown Talks: An Inside Look at Microsoft’s COVID-19 Response

If you keep up with business headlines, you’ve likely seen the news: Microsoft will be allowing employees to work from home on a permanent basis. While the announcement follows the company’s previous plans to keep teams remote through at least January 2021, it’s a big shift – and just one of the ways Microsoft is protecting the health and wellbeing of employees here and across the globe.

As Downtown’s largest employer, Microsoft’s response to the pandemic is setting an example on how companies can support the health, wellbeing and individual workstyles of their employees. To learn more about the company’s plans and what they mean for the future, we’re chatting with Colleen Daly, Microsoft’s public health and wellness lead, at our first Downtown Talks livestream event this Thursday at 11am.

Holding both a Ph.D. and masters degree in public health with diverse experience in the field, Daly is an expert on workplace wellness. Throughout her time at Microsoft she’s helped the company navigate global disease, including Ebola and Zika - and when COVID-19 hit, her expertise helped lead their global response. From ensuring employees remain safe while in the office to managing stress while working remotely, Daly is deeply involved in the tech giant’s plans for its workforce future.

And that’s exactly what will be discussed at this Thursday’s event. BDA President Patrick Bannon will lead a casual conversation with Daly, where she’ll share her latest insights and observations. From Daly’s predictions on the future of work-from-home trends to the ways Microsoft is protecting employees who do return to the office, the event will provide an inside perspective. Plus, attendees can ask questions directly to Daly through the livestream chat.

Don’t want to miss it? Make sure to register – the event is free to attend and can be livestreamed to the device of your choosing. And sign up for emails to get updated on future Downtown Talks events. We’ll see you on the 15th!
