Person Behind The Place:
Jasmine Dailida

Owner | Fit4Mom Bellevue & Mercer Island

A first-generation college graduate with a background in elementary education from New York University, Jasmine Dailida is a go-getter in all senses. From traveling across the country to get her masters, to taking over a business during a pandemic, Dailida continues to push boundaries and take strategic risks. After the previous owner of Fit4Mom Bellevue & Mercer Island decided to call it quits in the summer of 2020, Dailida quickly recognized the value of Fit4Mom and bought the business with no hesitation, becoming a Black business owner during a pandemic. Nearly two years later, she still has no regrets. As a mother of two, she understands what’s it’s like to raise kids during a pandemic and the need for a support system. Hear why Dailida believes Fit4Mom is more than just a program, and why she loves being part of the Downtown community.

What is unique about Fit4Mom Bellevue & Mercer Island compared to other programs around the area?

The distinct thing about my Fit4Mom program has to do with Bellevue's diverse tech industry. We have so many moms from different parts of the world and lots of first-time moms in a place that they’ve never been to. I occasionally get the born-and-raised Bellevue girls, but for the most part my group is beautifully diverse in all senses, from different cultures to different religions. It’s amazing because we’re all different, but when we do come together, we’re all moms and this allows people to feel like they’re part of a community where they can fit in and belong. Inclusivity and diversity are super important to me.

What is your favorite part about being the owner of Fit4Mom?

Something unexpected, but it's the community of supportive people. Last week, I had to work out these contracts and insurance policies... Instead of doing it all on my own, my group of moms stepped in and helped me out as much as they could. I have a mom who works for Facebook and she was willing to boost a post for me. I also love the way the Downtown community has supported us too. Bellden Café continues to hang up our flyers and Athleta has been so welcoming when it comes to our private parties. The relationships we continue to have with different downtown businesses have made our lives so much easier and made our downtown experience better. It’s amazing to know that I’m not alone in all of this.

How has Fit4Mom grown since you took over?

I’m at a point in owning Fit4Mom where I can lift my head and ask for help. When I first purchased Fit4Mom, I was trying to keep it afloat and equated it to a wounded bird where I was the only one who could help it. Now, I can slowly let this bird fly. It’s been a humbling experience. I can ask people to cover classes while I go to my daughter’s ballet recital or ask for help with social media. It’s not just me anymore and as I continue to grow my team, the business flourishes too. We can continue building a great program for all moms.

What do you love about working downtown?

I am a country girl by all means; we live in deep Issaquah, but I get to live a city life and be a city mom in Downtown Bellevue. It helps me stay young in a way... Even though I'm running this mom business, it’s still a mom business in a hustling and bustling city and there’s never nothing to do. There’s always some event, new coffee shop or restaurant. It pulls me out of my country life and I very much enjoy it.

What are you favorite places to shop?

Bellevue Square is amazing. I remember when my husband had his Microsoft interview here and it lasted for the whole day, so he dropped me off at Bellevue Square to get my mind off of it and I’ve been obsessed ever since.

What are your favorite places to dine?

I am all about Bellden Cafe, their avocado toast is amazing and they’ve been super supportive of us from day one. 520 Bar & Grill in Old Bellevue also has delicious burgers and fries. The moms and I go there after our Stroller Strides class to grab lunch and beer and if you know me, I’m always down for a beer, don’t be fooled by the workout moms!

Any hidden gems you'd like to share?

The Bellevue Botanical Garden is the best place to be. No matter what time of year it is, it’s beautiful. You have the Garden d'Lights event during the winter and the blooming flowers during the summer. They also have a cute café and the service is always amazing.
