Stylistically-informed interpretation of baroque music has often proven a knotty problem for students and teachers without expertise in the subject. Dr. Pearl, from the Peabody Institute of Music, will give an open workshop presenting some general guidelines using a harpsichord for demonstration. Topics covered will include: general stylistic concerns such as articulation; ornamentation; and treatment of dance movements such as minuets, sarabandes, and bourees.
