Briefly, Kabedon originated from Japanese pop culture. Kabe 壁 means wall, and Don ドン is the sound made when a wall is hit by someone. It’s often seen in shoujo manga (comic books catered to young girls) as a romantic gesture, where the heroine is cornered by the guy she likes. In that case, Kabedon usually ends up being a serious confession of love. In western culture, kabedon is a funny gesture and the participants are not limited to romantic partners.
