From Russia, With Love
A blend of Italian high drama and virtuosity, French lyricism, and native folk influences, the Pacific MusicWorks Underground season opener offers a unique window into the world of 18th century Russian opera at the St. Petersburg court of Catherine the Great and her predecessors. Tenor, Zach Finkelstein, joins the Underground House Band for rarely performed arias and instrumental music by Bortniansky, Berezovsky, Sokolovsky, Araja, and Fomin, including several modern-day American premieres.
