For adults. Join the community for a lively book discussion of Intemperance by local author Sonora Jha. This is our One Bellevue One Book selection for 2026.
Intemperance follows a twice-divorced feminist scholar who decides to celebrate her 55th birthday with a swayamvar, an ancient Indian custom in which suitors compete for her hand in marriage. The book explores themes of gender, aging, Indian diaspora, disability, and mythology.
