Twenty-two-year old violinist Eduardo Rios, winner of the 2015 Sphinx Competition, was born and raised in Lima, Peru. Since his solo debut at age fourteen with the National Symphony Orchestra of Peru, Mr. Rios has performed around the globe, making his American debut with the Houston Symphony performing the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto. Mr. Rios currently studies in Los Angeles with the Jascha Heifetz Distinguished Violin Chair, Robert Lipsett. He is co-concertmaster of the Colburn Orchestra and previous concertmaster of the Young Artists Symphony Orchestra. For the Spring Espectacular Concerts, March 17 & 18, Mr. Rios will perform Four Seasons of Buenos Aires (Piazzola). The orchestra will also perform Concerto for Strings in D major (Vivaldi).
