"Getting High in Vietnam's Northern Mountains"

Sue Milliken and Kelly Dodson of Far Reaches Botanical Conservancy explored high peaks and ridges in northern Vietnam last fall in search of new plants. This area is a geographical plant convergence zone and one of the world’s hotspots of biodiversity. Surprisingly, many plants from this region have a long memory harkening back to colder times and are proving much more hardy than common sense would suggest. Wear your boots – the trails are steep!
Sue and Kelly are collectors, propagators, growers and owners of Far Reaches Farm in Port Townsend and their newest endeavor, Far Reaches Botanical Conservancy. They are committed to conservation of rare and unusual ornamental plants through education and distribution to gardeners, botanical gardens and for scientific research.
