EnviroStars Helps Businesses Grow Greener

Emma Sullivan, June 29, 2018

Are you an owner of a business that is looking for ways to cut your costs and to do more for the environment? Maybe you want to make a difference but have no idea where to start. If so, EnviroStars might be the program for you.

Envirostars is a program that operates with the goal of linking local Washington businesses to environmental incentive programs to help them make changes that create more sustainable, healthier businesses. It is the free, one-stop hub for Washington businesses to get information, help and recognition for actions that protect the environment and employee health and safety.

What are the benefits to you and your business?

More efficiency, lower utility bills, greater comfort, improved worker safety, and a more healthy and productive workplace. The program is the easiest way for businesses to connect with local utility and government programs and incentives that can reduce product and installation costs, and save on utility bills. A free program that helps reduce costs? That sounds pretty great to us!

How are you making a difference?

EnviroStars helps businesses of all types find and implement green actions including conserving energy and water, preventing pollution, building green, reducing toxics, and cutting waste and greenhouse gas emissions.

How do I get started?

There are three different tiers of recognition which depend upon your level of commitment. You start by registering your business, providing information about what type of business you are, what kind of permits you have, etc. Once you register, you'll be taken to your green action checklist which covers energy conservation, pollution prevention, solid waste, wastewater, and water conservation. This should take just 1-2 hours!

After submitting all this information, a member agency representative may schedule an onsite visit (~1 hour) to confirm some of your green actions and identify additional resources for you.
