Meet Me Downtown for a Day Spent Exploring Bellevue
May 11, 2026 - by Brittnie Eakle
On Saturday I spent the day in Downtown Bellevue with my mom for an early Mother’s Day outing, and by the end of it, I realized something: one of the best parts about Bellevue is how easy it is to turn a simple day out into a full experience.
We started the morning with brunch at Bis on Main, sharing beignets and trying to narrow down our orders from a menu that was honestly hard to choose from. My mom had the farmers breakfast, and I landed on the huevos rancheros, which absolutely was the right decision.
The restaurant had a Mother’s Day backdrop set up, so naturally we had to stop for a photo before heading out to explore.
From there, we wandered through Old Bellevue, popping into local favorites like Hedge and Vine and Title Nine before walking through Bellevue Downtown Park on our way to Bellevue Square. My mom has lived on the Eastside for more than 40 years and admitted she had somehow never visited the park before, which honestly surprised me.
It ended up being one of those simple moments that reminded me how much there still is to discover in Downtown Bellevue, even for longtime locals.
At Bellevue Square, one of our first stops was Barnes & Noble because my mom is a huge book person. Within minutes, she had found the Frieda McFadden display and started enthusiastically talking to strangers about her favorite author. After hearing her rave about the books for what was probably the third time that day, I figured buying her one was the right move.
The afternoon turned into a little more shopping, snack breaks – including finally trying Lady Yum inside Bellevue Square – and browsing before we wrapped up the day at Cinemark Lincoln Square Cinemas to watch The Devil Wears Prada 2.
One thing I always appreciate about Downtown Bellevue is how connected everything feels. You can move from Old Bellevue to the park, shopping destinations, restaurants, and entertainment all within the same afternoon without ever really needing much of a plan.
It wasn’t an extravagant itinerary, and honestly, that’s what made the day feel so enjoyable. Downtown Bellevue has a way of making even simple plans feel full. Sometimes the best days aren’t built around a big event. Sometimes it’s just good food, comfortable shoes, and spending time together.
Meet Me Downtown is all about the moments, experiences, and connections that make Downtown Bellevue feel alive. Whether you’re visiting, living nearby, or spending your workday here, there’s always something to discover. From grabbing a bite to catching an event or simply enjoying the beauty of the city, it’s all happening here.
