Demonstration Bikeway Update (4/10)
OVERVIEW
City Staff will present their collected findings from the 108th Demonstration Bikeway evaluation period and share details about next steps. Members will review the findings and share feedback.
The Bellevue Transportation Commission is scheduled on 3/28 to review the Demonstration Bikeway findings and act on a recommendation transmitted to Council on 5/13. The BDA Transportation Committee is gathering between these two meetings to analyze the data and review community feedback to determine an appropriate action.
BACKGROUND
In 2017, the BDA Transportation Committee conducted a series of meetings to review the City’s implementation plans for demonstration bike lane. The Committee produced a BDA Board-approved message to the Bellevue Transportation Commission advocating for demonstration bikeway along 108th Ave NE. The message outlined the BDA’s expectations for safety, connectivity, impact mitigation, and performance metrics.
Early in 2018, the Council approved the Commission’s recommendation for a demonstration bikeway along 108th Ave NE. Construction began shortly afterwards and the bike lane opened in July 2018.
