Tambor e Cordas brings together a rich blend of Brazilian jazz, world rhythms, and multicultural influences through the talents of drummer King Dre, guitarist Doug Jones, and vocalist Nadine Waldmann. A lifelong percussionist who turned professional at 21, King Dre deepened his connection to Brazilian music during a 1998 musical journey through Brazil, studying with local musicians on the beaches of Copacabana and in vibrant club scenes. Guitarist Doug Jones draws from a diverse musical background spanning classic rock, punk-pop, reggae, Soukous, and African-inspired styles, while years of studying Brazilian music and culture—including mentorship under Bossa Nova specialist Bill Dee and collaborations with Seattle Brazilian artists like Nilza Lessa—have shaped his distinctive sound.

At the heart of the group is vocalist Nadine Waldmann, whose expressive performances and gift for singing in multiple languages reflect her multicultural upbringing in Germany and Hawaii. After studying with Seattle jazz legend Greta Matassa, Nadine developed a vocal style known for its clarity, warmth, and international flair. Together, Tambor e Cordas creates an inviting musical experience that celebrates rhythm, culture, and the timeless spirit of Brazilian-inspired music.
