Playing it Safe With a Sense of Adventure: Adventure Kids Playcare

Whether you’re working from home or just trying to balance it all, finding the right childcare can be a daunting task – especially now. If you have an important meeting to attend, a last minute date night or simply need to run errands (the list doesn’t stop here!), Adventure Kids Playcare provides a safe and fun environment for your children in the Heart of Bellevue. We got the scoop on what they offer and why kids love it.

The center opened in 2012, when owners Marisa Behnke and Corey Ginsberg had the desire to serve families in the Bellevue area with a flexible childcare option. Born was Adventure Kids Playcare; a unique drop-in daycare and entertainment option for kids ages 6 weeks to 12 years old. The center is also open later than most childcare centers, great for parents with nontraditional schedules (or that date night you’ve been dreaming of)!

This innovative center isn’t just a daycare. It’s a dynamic place for kids of all ages to learn and explore. It includes a basketball court, a rock wall, and a play structure that is separated for preschool and school aged students.

“We love to play with the children and have many options for them to be entertained,” Sharon Rand, Director of Adventure Kids Playcare, said.

Right now, the center has a summer camp running and registration is open until the start of school. Each week of the camp is centered around a theme and each day has a unique and fun activity. A popular favorite is Chefs Academy, where little one’s learn hands-on experience to mix and measure healthy recipes each day.

Of course, safety is paramount. Adventure Kids Playcare has been stringently following protocol and safety measures of the CDC and Washington State Department of Children, Youth, and Families. They are also taking extra measures and have been closely monitoring updates to ensure top safety.

“We have increased the frequency of our already rigorous cleaning procedures,” Rand said. “That includes a midday cleaning, sanitizing and rotation of all toys, shelves, playscapes and high-touch surfaces.”

Temperatures are taken every two hours, and parents are asked health questions upon entering. They have also decreased group sizes significantly to a 9:1 ratio for preschool and school age children.

The rising stress of remote-learning is something the center is also looking to help with. For school age students, the center plans to have dedicated staff to assist students with getting online and completing assignments. Students will be expected to come with their headphones, laptop, chargers, passwords and a list of assignments that will be completed during their school day.

“Our School Zone is a quiet, clean and sanitized area where students can really focus.” Rand said.
