BDA Breakfast Puts Downtown Bellevue’s Projects Center Stage

April 30, 2026 - by Bellevue Downtown Association

Projects driving Bellevue’s continued growth and development were the focus of the first BDA Breakfast of the year, where leaders behind some of Downtown’s most visible developments shared what’s happening on the ground right now.

Moderated by Lori Hill, CEO of Clise Properties and BDA Board Member, the conversation featured Cindy Ju, Director of Acquisitions & Development at Hines, who shared updates on HoM District as it moves through design, and Brendan Lawrence, Senior Development Manager at ONNI Group, who discussed 606 Bellevue, a project preparing to break ground.

Throughout the discussion, panelists addressed the realities of delivering projects in today’s environment, touching on timelines, market conditions, and the coordination required to move developments forward. The conversation also explored what’s driving continued investment in Downtown Bellevue, from long-term confidence in the market to the role of transit, public space, and regional growth.

Another key moment in the program was a special update from Nathan Torgelson, Director of the Office of the Grand Connection, who shared progress on the Grand Connection Crossing, one of Downtown’s most anticipated infrastructure projects designed to strengthen connectivity across the city.

The design team is currently advancing toward 60–90% design, with a general contractor expected to join the process this spring to help refine scope, advise on constructability, and identify cost-effective solutions. The project timeline outlines continued design and permitting through 2027, with construction anticipated between 2028 and 2030 and the crossing expected to open in early 2031.

Beyond connectivity, the crossing is expected to deliver broader community benefits, supporting increased visitation, retail activity, and long-term development, while enhancing public space and creating a more active, connected Downtown experience.

While each project is unique, a common theme emerged: Downtown Bellevue’s growth is not only ongoing, but intentional. From large-scale developments to city-led infrastructure, the work underway today is helping shape Downtown into its next phase.

As projects continue to move forward, BDA will keep the community informed and engaged, providing opportunities to hear directly from the leaders behind the work and better understand what’s ahead for Downtown Bellevue.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the BDA Breakfast—we look forward to seeing many of the same familiar faces at the State of the City on June 23, 2026. Registration details will be shared soon.
