Outdoor Escapes Within and Around the Heart of Bellevue

It’s that time of year! The sun is beaming through the ever-so-green trees, boating on Lake Washington has become a daily sight and life Downtown is spilling outdoors. We’re lucky to have a gorgeous city center surrounded by immense natural beauty. Check out some of our favorite outdoor activities to enjoy in and around the Heart of Bellevue, while practicing social distancing.

Bellevue Downtown Park
This park is unlike any other on the Eastside – it’s right in the city, the beating heart of Downtown Bellevue. With over 21-acres of land to roam and take in the sun, pack yourself a picnic or practice a bit of yoga. Walkers and runners can enjoy the one-half mile trip around perimeter, marked by beautiful water features. Need a refreshment? Grab coffee from nearby Third Culture or ice cream from the newly-opened Molly Moon's flagship! It’s an ideal place to disconnect from today’s stress and extremely easy to get to – it’s a quick walk from Bellevue Square and Old Bellevue.

Bridle Trails State Park
Explore Eastside’s hidden gem at this 489-acre park with 28 miles of trail. These horse-friendly trails are bordered between Kirkland and Redmond. Rumors have it, the park is known as one of the top equestrian parks west of the Mississippi, but it’s not just for them – it’s a walking and hiking destination all in its own. A quick drive, bike ride or bus ride from Downtown, Bridle Trails State Park feels like a world away. Check it out!

Meydenbauer Bay Park
Grab lunch and enjoy the sun along the water. With the stunning view of Bellevue’s downtown waterfront, Meydenbauer Bay Park offers swimming, water access and one of the best views in town. Located just south of Downtown Bellevue on the shores of Lake Washington, relax and enjoy multiple impressive viewpoints along trails or grab your kayak and cruise around the bay. PS: REI’s boathouse located at the park offers equipment rentals, making your next water adventure super easy.

Looking for even more of an adventure? Make Downtown your basecamp and explore the abundant recreation opportunities and natural beauty right next to Bellevue. Or, take in the sun as an urban explorer and walk our beautiful city – take a stroll along the Grand Connection and check out our yellow lantern installation. Either way, taking in the outdoors and staying active can’t get any easier than this. What are you waiting for?
