Person Behind The Place:
Patrick McCloskey

Money Coach | Capital One Café, Bellevue

Conveniently posted on the corner of NE 4th Street and Bellevue Way NE, Capital One’s Downtown Café neighbors local destinations and signature retailers in the Bellevue Collection – a prime location Coach Patrick McCloskey attributes to building a distinctive sense of community over the years. Curious to learn more about what our resident Capital One Café has to offer the vibrant Heart of Bellevue, we caught up with Patrick to discuss how the Bellevue café pivoted its approach to reach customers and serve up delicious drinks during the pandemic.

What opportunities or programs does Capital One Café offer to Bellevue?

A large part of the Café experience is focused on helping people stress less about money with customized information to help make their lives easier. We’re excited to share that our signature Money Coaching program and our other financial wellness programs are available both virtually and in-person. All programs are open to anyone - you don’t have to be a Capital One customer! Plus, hand crafted Peet’s Coffee beverages are always 50% off for Capital One debit or credit card holders.

How has the Café been involved with the Downtown community?

During the pandemic, we supported Dress for Success clients from Bellevue, Seattle and abroad with a six-week virtual money workshop led by our Cafe Ambassadors. It was such an amazing experience to work together across the PNW and the country. I look forward to continuing to support community partners virtually and in-person in the future!

Where are your favorite places Downtown to dine or grab drinks with friends?

There are so many great places to choose from! Earl’s Kitchen + Bar is where we always take our friends visiting from out of town. The drinks, food, and service are always spectacular. Also, Gilbert’s on Main has some of the best corn beef sandwiches I’ve ever had!

Any special projects or upcoming events we should keep an eye out for?

We’ve recently launched a virtual event series hosted by WNBA player, mom and entrepreneur Candace Parker, which includes live streamed and pre-recorded content that will feature conversations with Candace and a diverse group of influential voices, our Cafe Ambassadors and Money Coaches. The hub feature on our events site links to resources like Money Coaching and helpful articles on topics like how to teach kids about supporting causes they believe in by choosing where to spend their money.
