Spring in Bloom: Where to Experience the Season in Downtown Bellevue

April 10, 2026 - by Brittnie Eakle

Bellevue is beautiful all year round, but springtime in Downtown Bellevue feels especially vibrant. As outdoor seating returns, seasonal menus begin to appear, and more people fill the streets, the energy of the city shifts.

Come along as we take a tour through Downtown Bellevue and explore where the season comes to life.

Bellevue Downtown Park

At the center of it all is Bellevue Downtown Park, where ducks gather along the water, the skyline reflects

in the pond, and every turn feels like a reminder that the season has arrived. Take in the sights on a midday walk, or slow down and settle in for the afternoon, this is one of the best places to experience spring in full color.

Bellevue Botanical Garden

Just minutes from downtown, Bellevue Botanical Garden offers a deeper connection to the season.

Spanning 53 acres of cultivated gardens, restored woodlands, and natural wetlands, the garden comes alive in spring with layers of color, texture, and new growth.

This season, visitors can explore Habitats at Home, a demonstration garden designed to support pollinators, wildlife, and biodiversity. Also on display is The Lost Bird Project, an exhibit by artist Todd McGrain, on view through late summer 2026. The installation features striking sculptures that honor extinct North American birds, offering a powerful and reflective layer to the garden experience.

Celebrate Earth Day at the garden on April 18 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Earth Fest is a family-friendly, drop-in event featuring sustainability resources, garden tours, activities, live music, and food.

Grand Connection

The Grand Connection brings together some

of Downtown Bellevue’s most walkable and visually dynamic spaces. In spring, landscaped pathways and plazas soften with greenery and seasonal blooms, adding a fresh layer of color to the urban experience.

Arriving from the Bellevue Downtown Station or the Bellevue Transit Center, this connected route carries you through the heart of downtown, past shops, public spaces, and gathering places, with stops like Bellevue Square and Bellevue Downtown Park unfolding naturally along the way.

Meydenbauer Bay Park

With breathtaking waterfront views and a peaceful shoreline, Meydenbauer Bay Park offers a different perspective on spring in Bellevue. Calm waters reflect clear blue skies, while the curved pier extends into Lake Washington, framed by evergreens and early seasonal color along the hillside.

It’s a place where the pace naturally slows. Ideal for a quiet walk, a moment on the dock, or layout in the sun. Before you leave, take a walk up the road for a quick bite and go shopping in Old Bellevue.

Spring in Bellevue isn’t defined by a single destination, but by the way nature weaves itself into the urban landscape, showing up in blooming trees, colorful planters, and green spaces that invite you to slow down and stay awhile.
