Overview

The BDA Urban Forum is a platform for members to engage issues that impact Downtown’s vitality as both a dense urban neighborhood and a regional jobs center. Its scope takes a holistic view of the interconnected elements that shape Downtown as a place—such as parks and open spaces, mobility, and land use—and how these factors influence both the experience and the economy. Forum topics will include planning initiatives, code updates, capital projects, and community programs.

Purpose

The objective of the BDA Urban Forum is to provide members with relevant insights and opportunities to engage with subject matter experts. Programming will take a broad approach to ensure accessibility for all members, regardless of their level of expertise on a given topic. The ultimate goal is to elevate our collective understanding of what’s happening in Downtown.

Note: The Urban Forum operates as a learning and engagement platform under the assumption the BDA is acting to achieve its Strategic Plan Goals. It is not a decision-making group. See BDA Workgroup System for details about how and when decision making bodies are implemented.

Where, When & Who

Join us at the next BDA Urban Forum for a progress update from the BDA’s consultant, Progressive Urban Management Associates (P.U.M.A.), on the feasibility of forming a Business Improvement Area (BIA) in Downtown Bellevue. Members will receive an overview of how BIAs function and hear findings from the consultant’s feasibility analysis  — including stakeholder feedback, the case for a district, and next steps. This session offers an opportunity to learn more about the BDA’s ongoing exploration of BIA formation and to share input with the consulting team.
