Amazon Adds More Jobs and Donates $1 Million Along the Way

One of the fastest-growing employers in the Heart of Bellevue made a big announcement for the city's growth, and a big donation to help it thrive.

Amazon announced plans to add 10,000 more jobs to Downtown Bellevue, citing the city’s business-friendly community, quality of life and professional talent pool. These jobs come in addition to the 15,000 new positions announced in February, growing Amazon’s Downtown presence to 25,000 future employees.

This growth is also altering the skyline. Amazon secured an additional two million square feet of commercial space in Downtown, inking leases at the 555 Tower and West Main developments. Both properties are being developed by BDA Member Vulcan Real Estate and will offer state-of-the-art office space as well as community amenities on the ground level.

As the company expanded their plans to grow in Bellevue, they also worked to grow their commitment to the community. Amazon made a $1 million grant donation to the City of Bellevue’s Human Services Fund, directly benefiting residents in need. These funds will be distributed by the City to more than 40 Eastside charitable and community service organizations.

"Amazon’s continued investment in Bellevue, including today’s announcement of adding 10,000 well-paying jobs as well as a $1 million grant to the Humans Services Fund, is a major win for our community and region," Bellevue Mayor Lynne Robinson said.

Supporting the Eastside’s community and culture has been part of Amazon’s presence in Bellevue for some time. When the pandemic first hit, the company created a small business grant program to support local operators as things came to a halt. And when the economy began to reopen, Amazon partnered with the BDA to support the Heart of Bellevue campaign, bringing stories of resilience and recovery to the Downtown community.
